Great place to help yourself be a better self
Just visiting
Been here twice and learned most if what I know about addiction here. I'm not sure how it's funded now but both times I went it was funded by the state of Louisiana. I have to say it was an amazing facility. Very clean and the food was pretty amazing. It's a very old building and I was told it was once a psych ward where unimaginable things where done to crazy people in an effort to cure them. Not sure how true those stories where though. But, for a building built in 1945 I think, it is still very nice. I remember mostly the long walks around the facility and the woodpeckers and other birds calling and what not. I do remember the 30 days, each time I was there, seeming to take an eternity. Now that I'm 41 years old I can tell you that the program could for sure stand to be much longer. 30 days is not enough time to help an addict. I think the program would have a much higher success rate if it was something like 9 months. If I could I would go there right now for a 9 month program. Although I learned about all I know at this facility, the two times I went where not enough to cure me as I still struggle with addiction. I have slowed down with my drug use to near abstinence from drugs but I now am taking methadone which I feel I am very addicted to. I would love to go back here for nine months so that I could be truly free from drugs. Third time's a charm and I'm older now with a completely different outlook on addiction. My review had gone astray so I'll just say that this place gets a huge thumbs up from me.
