I had been to 3 other treatment centers before coming to Gulf Breeze Recovery. The facilities I had been to before were all nice facilities and comfortable but they do not compare to GBR. The things I learned at GBR were just too valuable. I have been able to find true peace and a sense of relief after struggling with a serious opiate addiction for several years. The staff at GBR is extremely caring and I am extremely grateful to have gone through this program. If I had a loved one that was suffering from addiction, this is the place I would recommend. Thank you

I can't say enough good things about this facility! I came in this program thinking that it was 12 step, not saying anything wrong with 12 step programs, it just wasn't my thing. This facility allowed me to understand on my own, my way out of the shame and guilt and all the other horrid ways of thinking I had once led myself to believe. Gulf Breeze recovery is an amazing facility with a new way of thinking about what "recovery" actually means. The staff here are genuinely grateful to be here for us guest. No judgement at all! The owner, Barnett truly cares about the guest at this facility. He gave me the gift of life back. I could not have found myself at a better facility! I would recommend this facility above and beyond over and over again. You speak to real and honest people who have been in my shoes rather than a computer when you call which is super cool.

Awesome facility, awesome staff, and even better food! My stay at GBR was unbelievable. I feel like I already knew everything they taught me but the way they present it in such a profound way triggered numerous insights while I was there. I finally feel like I have my life back and that I actually do have power over my addiction. I can't thank Mike enough for getting me to GBR and accommodating each and every need I had. He even offered to drive to LA to come get me so I could check in. The entire staff was very accommodating, including the chefs, with specifics while cooking 5 star meals for everyone. There was more than enough Rec time and I honestly didn't want to leave. Whether you have an addiction, anxiety, depression, or just not living the life you want and deserve, GBR can get your life back on track. The things they teach will last you a lifetime and you honestly can't put a price on that. I am forever grateful for my stay there.

What a place!!! I can't say enough about this facility... from the bottom up! I had en excellent experience at GBR. I had over a dozen years in sobriety and life got really crazy in 2017. I lost balance and picked up for a short time but knew I needed a break! I went in looking for a deeper look into myself and what I could do to get better and not repeat some of the same patterns... I GOT EXACTLY THAT!! The Counselors, nursing staff, support staff, and kitchen staff were all incredible!! I needed what they have to offer regardless of my relapse!! Anyone could benefit from 60 days there!! If you are looking for a new experience regarding sobriety and overall well being... this is the place!! I am actively involved in AA too but this took it to the next level!!! Go and see!!

I am so thankful that i came to Gulf Breeze Recovery! I have been to several different types of recovery centers and nothing ever seemed to work for me. When I came to Gulf Breeze I was at the end of my rope and in complete desperation! Immediately upon walking thru the doors, the staff made me feel at ease and right at home! They actually cared about me and my well being and were there to help me with any of my concerns. The program has a unique and holistic approach in teaching a new way to look and live life. They helped me to forgive and love myself again. Something I haven't been able to do in a long time! The foundation that I built there has set me up for success and only continues to grow with my active participation in aftercare with 3P educator, literature, and online groups! The facility is absolutely breath taking and the accommodations are really first class! They have amazing food, fun art classes, one on one counseling, sauna, and recreational therapy along with yoga and meditation! Thank you GBR!

I went to gulf breeze almost 4 years ago. I was at the end of my wits with an rx addiction I wasn’t able to stop, and my career and education was taking a nose dive, as my life spiraled out of control. When I went to gulf breeze I had an experience that changed the way I saw my own thinking, and it has never been able to compare to drugs for me. The actual place itself was great. The food was amazing, and I was always comfortable, but I am jealous to learn that they have since gotten a pool out by the bay where I used to tan. With recovery there is usually relapse and I, of course, was not an exception. But with the tools I’d gathered from the teachings I’d been a part of at gulf breeze, I was able to observe that slip ups happened for me in times when I was caught in negative thought patterns. Although there were PLENTY of resources for me to keep up with recovery after I left, for me there was no group that was going to help me do it, I had to get up everyday and make my own bed, and personally I don’t think I could have reached the point I am at now with an AA based program. Today I own an online business, I am independent at 24, and I just got accepted into my top choice school with schlorship grants for fall 2018. I never thought I would get back. All of the people at gbr (many of whom are still there) are genius level healers and therapists, with warm and innovative approaches. As I understand, there have been more people to come on recently who are of a similar practice (three principles, health realization, consciousness based it doesn’t matter what you call it as long as you feel it ; D) and they are continuing to turn lives around still.

I have been to several rehabs and this place outshines them all. The therapists, nurses, and staff are all very caring and qualified. The facilities are excellent. It is quite different(and refreshing) than a 12 step program. I did a lot of research on non 12 step rehabs and chose this one and I'm awfully glad I did!

I have had the pleasure of getting to know a couple people who attended GBR this past year. I myself am in recovery and just celebrated 3 years clean. I know a lot of people that have attended many different treatment centers GBR in particular has an amazing approach and perspective towards addiction. So much so that it has not only benefitted their recovery, but my own recovery as well. I am not only grateful for the people I met that attended GBR but I am also grateful for the new perspective on my own recovery. There is certainly something special about what is taught here that I don’t see anywhere else in the traditional treatment setting.

I checked into Gulf Breeze Recovery on June 5, 2017. The moment I walked in the door I was greeted with warm smiles and open hearts. I was scared. Terrified. Who isn't scared of going into recovery? At Gulf Breeze, they understand your fear. The nursing staff took me right in and immediately made me feel comfortable during my time in detox. I can't even begin to explain the love and compassion the nurses have for each individual there. They truly care about making sure you are okay, comfortable, and aware that they are there for you 24/7. When I finally gained clarity I was able to really grow into the person I truly I am without substances, the person I had been hiding from for years. I learned so much about addiction. At Gulf Breeze, the counselors and staff are so amazing and really help guide you in finding your true inner being. Each human being is born with this innate wisdom. With substance abuse, I was unable to be aware of that. I was always trying to control my thinking. What I realize now is that we can't control our thinking, but we can control how we respond to our feelings that come from our thinking. Its such a simple concept and I would never know who my true self is without Gulf Breeze Recovery. The facility is beautiful overlooking Pensacola Bay. The staff works so hard to keep it clean and organized as they know comfort is a huge part of recovery. The food is THE BEST as they have two incredibly talented chefs. Even the chefs care deeply about you and your recovery. I would recommend GBR to anyone struggling with addiction. It is a judgement free zone with some of the most beautiful people I have ever met and I am forever grateful for the experience I had in recovery.

Learned a lot while at Gulf Breeze Recovery! Awesome staff. I have substantial clean time now, and my time at GBR was an integral part of my recovery story!

I did not read any reviews before going to Gulf Breeze Recovery, but for those of you who do read reviews, please read this one. I admitted myself to GBR in 2015 after an extensive struggle with opiates and then Suboxone for several years. I tried many times to taper the Suboxone on my own, but like most I was unsuccessful. I came to GBR as a last ditch effort to find some relief. What I found was amazing and mind boggling at first. I was expecting to sit in groups and admit all the bad things I had done and then be shamed and told what I bad person I was and that I was broken and would be on anti-depressants and have to sit in 12 step meetings the rest of my life. What I found at GBR was very different and after I had some clarity I was able to see what these people were trying to show me. The bottom line is we are born with innate wisdom and when one is reaching out to substances for comfort, all the wisdom is covered up. I could go on and on about this program and facility. I can tell you from the moment I walked in the door I was never judged, which was big for me. I was never shamed or guilted, but what my therapist assisted me with was losing the shame and guilt I did have, which had been holding me back for years. I was able to meet with her 1 to 2 times a week, which I benefited greatly from. The aftercare that GBR set up for me was amazing and helped me get to where I am today. The facilty is absolutely gorgeous and overlooks Pensacola Bay. My experience was life changing and I owe this place and the people there my life. If you are reading this and are considering treatment you are probably frightened as I was as well. I was put at ease as soon as I walked in the door. The staff is incredible as well as the meals. The staff appropriately addressed every need I had. Getting sober is not easy for anyone, however, I can promise you that this facility and program make it tolerable. All it takes is willingness and an open mind. You will discover something wonderful within yourself. I am not saying that my life now is a fairytale, but I can say that I am able to sit with my feelings and thoughts and I am at peace with me. Thank you for reading.

I highly recommend Gulf Breeze Recovery. After my time at GBR, I am not “in recovery”, I am RECOVERED! The transformation that has taken place within me during my stay at GBR and afterwards is indescribable. I am continually amazed at the changes I’ve experienced in my addictions, well-being, relationships, anxiety/stress levels and overall happiness. And, things seem to continue to get better! Once you SEE for yourself the principles that are explored at GBR, it is impossible to ever un-see these principles. GBR provides an excellent environment to begin the life changing process of learning & understanding these simple principles. Each stage/aspect of GBR’s program including detox, sauna, neuro feedback, coursework, physical health, mental health, healthy diet, education, reflection, meditation, free time, etc is well planned & beneficial to the overall process of not only removing the addiction but guiding you towards a new perspective on life after rehabilitation. The continuing education counselor provided by GBR to work with after leaving GBR has been extremely good for me as well. GBR provides several counselors outside of their facility to choose from upon leaving GBR…you & your GBR counselor will work together to find the best “fit” for your life after GBR. In closing, please review the recovery approach of Transformational Recovery Centers (GBR) vs Traditional Recovery Centers (12-Step). Of course 12-Step programs have helped many people over the years & they continue to do so, but there is another, better way that WORKS…GBR can and will provide the foundation for a new life for you like it did for me. I will be forever grateful for Gulf Breeze Recovery. The food is awesome too!

I checked into GBR June 3, 2016. I cannot overstate the impact my stay there made on me. I truly believe they saved my life. Actually, it would be more accurate to say they showed me that I had the ability to save my own life all along. I have been clean for ten months as I write this review. I truly thought that I was beyond repair. I had been kicked out of my last rehab, I had come and gone, unmoved, from the rooms of 12 step meetings, and I honestly thought that I was destined to die with a needle in my arm. GBR offered me a safe place to come to the realization of my innate value. I had tried looking outside of myself for peace for so long that it was completely revolutionary to realize that the only place I needed to look was within. I could literally go on and on about the counselors and the rest of the staff. However, I think that my experience can be summed up by saying that there is no doubt in my mind that I would not be alive today had I not found this treatment center. And, today, the quality of my life has already surpassed any hopes I had for myself before coming here. And it gets even better every day.

I spent the better part of 15 years using methamphetamine. It had taken over my life and my ability to be comfortable around anyone, most of all myself. I knew I needed help and I had finally gotten to a place where I wanted help. I had never been to rehab before and wasn’t really sure where to start. I knew that a 12 step program was not for me. I just started searching the internet and Gulf Breeze Recovery kept popping up. I called a few places only to get an answering service. I was left feeling discouraged and because of this, I was reluctant to call GBR. When I finally worked up the courage to call, Reed answered the phone. I’m so glad he did because I’m not sure I would have ever made it to any rehab if I had not spoken to a real person. Everyone at GBR went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable. Everyone there was so nice and helpful. During my 12 week stay at GBR I learned, not just how to survive but how to live life healthy and happy. I enjoy life now, a life that I now know I deserve. I thank God that I found GBR. It is the real deal! Thank you Gulf Breeze Recovery for saving my life!

My name is Jon Beyer, I'm 31 years old, and I attended Gulf Breeze Recovery Center for my drinking. I had been completely dependent on alcohol for 15 years. I had no respect for myself, and I no hope for the future. I had tried to taper, and I was still waking up at night to maintain. My mother recommended Gulf Breeze because she agreed with their principles, and she believed that this was my last chance. I didn't know what to expect, and I had had negative experiences with seeking help in the past, but I would have tried anything because I believed my life depended on it. I was dreading the detoxification process, because I would get ill when I didn't have enough to drink, but I was pleasantly surprised by how brief my detox was. The doctor and nursing staff made me feel very comfortable and welcome. After detox the real beauty of Gulf Breeze began to shine through. All of the staff and even the other guests created an amazingly nurturing and caring environment for me. And though I had my solitude, I never felt alone. I felt that everyone there truly wanted the best for me, and believed I could achieve it. The counselors teach you how your brain works, how your thoughts can work for you instead of against you. They teach you how to process stress, understand emotions, and become at peace with yourself. They taught me that there was nothing wrong with me. I didn't have a disease; the drinking was just a symptom of how I was living. Just like if I don't have a headache, I don't think about aspirin, drinking rarely crosses my mind, but if it does, that thought will pass. Gulf Breeze has a knowledgeable, compassionate staff, an extensive library to utilize, fantastic accommodations, delicious cuisine, and a comprehensive curriculum. They have a great facility, and they provide plenty of free time for relaxation, meditation, or exorcise. The one-on-one counseling is fantastic, and the entire staff is always happy to talk with you. 8 weeks can seem like a long time, but I felt like it was necessary to practice being my new, sober self. It really didn't feel like that long when I was there, and giving 60 days to have the rest of my life back was a great investment. It wasn't always easy, but I was definitely worth it. And, they make it easy to stay in touch with loved ones. Sometimes I think that Gulf Breeze shouldn't be a recovery center, because everyone, regardless of whether or not they have an addiction, can benefit from the principles. If you are even the least bit curious about changing your life, I can't recommend them enough. What they do works. I knew my life was bad, but I didn't know how bad until I saw how good it could be. I never could have seen that without them. I’ll be eternally grateful for Gulf Breeze Recovery; they gave me my life back.

I brought my son to GBR after reading all these fabulous reviews. I seriously hoped for the same kind of recovery that others had spoken about. The admissions counselor seemed to know exactly where I, as the desperate and discouraged parent, was coming from. I personally took out a large loan, as our insurance didn't cover standalone treatment facilities, and took him in. The nurses and counselors are truly wonderful. I could not have asked for more. My son loved the nurses too. His counselors were very helpful, although I would have liked him to have had more time with them. The ideas are sound, and I got a lot out of the books that they gave him. If he had wanted to make any of it stick, it would have been great, but they could not change who he is, nor give him hope for the future, so it didn't work. He doesn't drink as much as he did before, and we have more sober days than we did before, but I feel that it is only honest to say that it doesn't always work. Frankly, if I only read positive reviews about a place, I would begin to wonder if they were "rigged". The building is lovely, it is on Pensacola Beach Blvd, however, there is no ocean access. The pictures led me to believe it was right on the beach and that my son would walk along the beach or sit on the beach and make life decisions. The truth is that there is a small piece of sand that overlooks the water, but it is not really a beach, and no one is allowed to be alone outside anyway, so don't expect that. I"m just letting people know what I found vs what I thought I would find. I don't think I would go so far as to call the cooks executive chefs, but they did cook dinners and my son said many of them were good. He didn't care for all of them though, and when he asked for Ensure instead of a meal, I was charged for that. I thought that was a little strange. Keep in mind that although the staff may be awesome, your family members may be still be hard to live with, and there may be disagreements between other guests and your addict. They are all grown ups with big problems, so don't expect all hearts and flowers and friends forever. My son was kind of a jerk sometimes when he went in and that didn't change. He's still kind of a jerk sometimes, and I'm sure he was tough to live with, as he told me that other guests were tough to live with too. I found that the pricing, as well as the length of treatment, were negotiable, which seemed a little odd. I"m grateful that they are sensitive to those of us who are not made of money, but feel that others should know that the first price they tell you may not be your only option. I read hundreds of reviews before I selected a place for my son. I know I really appreciated those who gave their honest feedback, as this is an industry plagued with scammers. Gulf Breeze is not a scam. It is a good idea. I think it could really make a difference if your addict would listen and use their information. It just didn't work right now with my son. I thought there might be more follow up with him after he left, but there was not much. He was assigned to a new counselor whom he had never met, so I don't think he ever called her. If your addict relapses and you want to send them back, there is no discounted rate, so I hope it works for you on the first round.
